This past weekend we had the opportunity to get away for bit and headed to Orange Beach. It’s one of our favorite places to be, especially during the warm temperatures. We spend everyday outside playing in or on the water. Between boating, swimming, Stand Up Paddle boarding, fishing, or walking the white sandy beaches, there is always something fun to do that we’re always doing.
Stand Up Paddle boarding, or SUP, is one of my favorite summer activities. I love to SUP every time I’m near a body of water. I’m hesitant at first, but as soon as I get going I’m gone. What I love about it the most is the whole body workout your forced into. Every muscle is working to help maintain balance and smooth mobility through water. Your core and lower body muscles are activated for balance. The more you suck in your abs, the more balanced you are and the tighter your abs become. It’s a win-win. While paddling through the water, it’s best to bend your knees, firing up your gluts, hamstrings, and quads, toning the lower body. Your upper body muscles are utilized when the paddle is moving into and out of the water. It’s an awesome feeling! I encourage everyone to try it one day. Now, if only I can live near the water again and make SUP part of my everyday workout.
